    In the early days of HHO technology, many vehicles were unable to benefit due to the strict parameters of their computer management systems. These computers are generally referred to as ECUs (Engine Control Units) and some would simply not allow fuel economy to improve beyond certain programmed values.
 
    As HHO technology advances, more vehicles are able to benefit despite these ECU limitations. The Flash Chip is one of the newest products to address and solve the limitations of many modern vehicle ECUs.

How This Works
 
    Inside every ECU is a three dimensional table of values called a Map. This table tells your fuel injectors exactly how much fuel to deliver based upon current air temperature, density, engine speed, throttle position, and other variables.

    From the factory, the Map is generic and designed to provide a sluggish, no-surprises style of driving that suits a wide range of drivers. It is especially ignorant to the benefits of HHO systems and their ability to burn fuel at a much greater air to fuel mixture ratio than usual.

    The Flash Chip corrects this problem by providing a pre-programmed and highly tuned Map for the ECU to reference. The tuned Map contains a set of variables that directly allow for better fuel efficiency. When the ECU attempts to read specific factory settings, the Flash Chip patches the factory value with one from its tuned Map.

    In this way, when the Flash Chip recognizes an HHO system is operating, parts of the factory Map are temporarily replaced with improved variables from the tuned Maps. This technique safely unleashes your engine's ability to use less gasoline and it doesn't void the warranty.
 
    And yes, it's easy to remove and restore the computer to factory settings when desired.

How It Installs

    Simply locate the OBD-2 port, connect the Flash Chip to four wires found BEHIND the port, and you're done. Bring the vehicle up to operating temperature and then press the reset button to start saving fuel.

Additional Information


    This chip has been specifically tuned for the needs of HHO generator equipped vehicles. The Flash Chip is dynamic - which means it will consider oxygen levels in the exhaust, along with engine speed and load, intake air temperature and volume, and many other variables to determine the most efficient fuel delivery rate and timing at up to 256 separate load points.

     When using HHO as a fuel supplement, the Flash Chip will adjust fuel delivery and timing to optimize efficiency! And, when your HHO system is disabled, the Flash Chip will automatically re-adjust and switch to highly efficient, non-HHO enhanced maps.

     The Flash Chip is a vehicle specific, custom programmed 20 MHz Micro-controller. It utilizes its high speed serial input/output to communicate directly with the ECU through the OBD-II port.

    The Flash Chip IS compatible with factory equipped Turbo/Superchargers, diesel engines, Flex-Fuel, supplemental HHO systems. It is NOT compatible with hybrid engine options, propane, or natural-gas.

Is this the right one for my engine?

    Each custom programmed Flash Chip has room for up to 8 performance maps, which we use to cover different engine options for a particular vehicle. For example, the 1999 Ford Mustang Flash Chip will be compatible with both the 3.8L V6 and the 4.6L V8. The Flash Chip will read the first few bytes of data from your ECU during calibration to determine which map to use.

    Please verify your vehicle is OBD-2 compliant before making a purchase. This means it was manufactured after 1996 and has  an OBD diagnostic port available inside the driver's compartment. If you do not have an OBD port, then we recommend our EFIE Max product to address your oxygen sensors.
